Wardrobe Post 2024

Welcome to the first month of the new year, a time when we show each other how well we can tidy up our wardrobes, that time of the year when hunters display their prey, and so on. Yes, it’s the Wardrobe Posts month! How is it possible that I released this year’s post on time? It’s simple! I’m at home sick with COVID, so I have plenty of time for writing and photographing all this beauty! Well, not really all of it. I wanted to capture everything nicely from the beginning, but it was so endless that I recycled photos of the main pieces from the previous wardrobe posts, haha… and then I took photos of the rest… Now I realize I forgot about parasols. But everyone knows what white and black parasols look like. Nothing special… just two AP’s parasols.

I wanted to summarize the year 2023, unfortunately, it wasn’t my best year in terms of health and free time, so I’ll skip that. Let’s not spoil the mood here.

Let’s get to the Wardrobe post!

♡ Wardrobe ♡

Getting an Ikea wardrobe was the best investment ever. I’m often amazed at how much it can hold…

In the metal basket, I keep my petticoats and such… Only in the left part of the wardrobe, there are T-shirts and similar items because the lower three drawers are for my ‘normie’ clothes, which I don’t have much of… The right part of the wardrobe is entirely for EGL clothing and accessories. From my trips to Paris and Berlin, I brought back boxes from Ladurée. They are sturdy, compact, and beautiful, so I use them to store small accessories that wouldn’t fit anywhere else. I rolled belts and ribbons into the larger one. I couldn’t resist and bought two brand-new pairs of shoes from Angelic Pretty. I kept the boxes and also used them to store some things – waist ties that I don’t wear but don’t want to lose. I used the second larger box for storing socks, OTKs and stockings.

Unfortunately, I didn’t sew many new things last year. My burnout syndrome is still with me. But I’d say it’s getting better now. I’ll definitely sew something for Animefest and perhaps set up a booth at other events too. I’ve been invited to one international event, but I’ll announce that when it’s official, later on Instagram. I have so many ideas and so little time… But I really wish to create more items for SleepingDoll in 2024 and try out new things and designs. Wish me luck!

♡ One-Piece ♡

I always used to say that I wouldn’t buy One Piece dresses because they’re not very versatile. It’s interesting how we evolve and change our opinions. Last year, I actually got 2! At Animefest, I bought OP from Atelier 17 – Dark Fairy Tales Snow White in the Trip in the dream booth. They are incredibly comfortable and surprisingly versatile in how they can be worn. I guess these dresses broke my resistance against OPs. Those second OP I unexpectedly found on Vinted, and they’re currently my favourite too! British Crown from Angelic Pretty in black :3

♡ Jumper-Skirts ♡

The 2023 was all about dream prints! I don’t know how, but I managed to get quite a few of them! Many years ago, I made a top 10 wishlist of prints that I would surely never get (I was a poor student… lol), but I wanted to dream about them. Among my top 10 were Chocolate Rosette JSK in navy, Sugary Carnival JSK in black, and believe it or not, fate wanted it that Moi Meme Moitie did a re-release of Iron Gate, so this incredibly epic piece is now hanging in my closet too! Another new piece is the Holy Lantern JSK in navy. I like both designs – one with zippers and the high-waist JSK, so why not both? But the Gothic prints don’t stop there. I managed to find Kostelik Vech Savtých from Dark Box. Incredibly beautiful and subtle dresses with a print of the ossuary in Kutná Hora! And no, I didn’t make any typos in the name. That’s because the brand can’t spell it correctly, and they actually named the dress like that.

My obsession with fruit and chocolate prints didn’t slow down and led me to adopt more fruity dresses – Cherry Stamp from Angelic Pretty. It was a love at first sight when they were first released, but I was just broke af at that time. However, luck smiled upon me, and I found them second-hand. And as I mentioned the top 10 section at the beginning of this paragraph, I managed to snag a piece from my top ten here as well – Freshly Picked Strawberries from Angelic Pretty. AP Paris released a special set of these JSKs in the summer for such a great price as part of a special sale event. I would have been crazy not to go for it!

♡ Skirts ♡

I’ve always had more skirts than dresses. For some reason, It’s starting to change now. Partly, it’s because larger brands have somewhat moved away from producing skirts upon releasing new prints, focusing more on JSKs and OPs. Luckily I can sew my own skirts…One new piece in my closet was actually acquired from Vinted. I was really surprised that Vinted has so many EGL items!

I have one of my own printed skirts In my closet – Necropolis. But it’s poorly made, lol because it’s mine. And I do thisng for me sometimes poorly. This was a very first piece I sewed from that fabric. I need to make a proper one in the future! I’d like to re-release Necropolis in 2024. I redesigned the print to make it seamless with a circumference of about 230cm, which I think is ideal. Hopefully!

Also, I have Nakayoshi Ginger Cookie for sale on my Vinted. Unfortunately, I’ve never actually worn this skirt anywhere because I don’t feel comfortable in it.

Even in this category, I successfully acquired items last year! The Calmato blouse from Atelier Pierrot and the wine-colored one from Amastacia are my favourites, and I absolutely need both of these designs in black as well!

In my previous wardrobe posts, I’ve only photographed purely EGL brand items in this category. However, this time, I’ve decided to photograph everything so that you can see how many beautiful pieces can be found in thrift stores and combined with EGL coordinates.

♡ Coats/ Jackets ♡

In September, before my trip to Finland, I visited Metalshop in Prague and found this stunning black coat from Killstar. Despite the price, I decided to get it, and it was a great decision! It’s warm, comfortable, and very flattering. Then on Vinted, I bought a beige coat for light outfits for around 130 CZK (yes, you read that right). With the Ank Rouge coat, I’m currently facing a problem – it’s not as comfortable as it used to be. It fit well when my waist was 65cm, but now I’m at 70cm. I kept it anyway because what if… Btw, Lolita and leather jackets are a perfect combo! Change my mind :DDDD

♡ Accessories and everything else ♡

This will be a comprehensive chapter… And because there’s so much of it, it could fill a series of books by George R.R. Martin, so I’ll just run through it… In 2023, I finally had the chance to personally see and purchase stunning creations from the American brand BB and B. I also found divine accessories from Le Petit Four , and at Trip in the Dream, I also acquired accessories from the brands they offer. I expanded my collection of berets, of course, and I even got larger headpieces. One of them I made myself. I transformed a summer straw hat from an H&M into a cute lolita straw hat. I cut it up, put it back together, decorated it, and voilà! A Lolita straw hat for summer is done!

I must not forget my small collection of items by Vivienne Westwood and Pandora! One day I will finally get the VW armor ring! It’s my quest for 2024 XD

♡ Shoes ♡

Let me say a few words about shoes here… I’ve always bought off-brand or AliExpress shoes. Unfortunately, I’m the type of person who has one favourite pair of shoes and wears them quite often. What’s the problem? The cheaper shoes don’t withstand frequent wear and they start falling apart. Gururu platforms keep breaking apart despite multiple attempts at glueing the platform together, and my HoneyCherry tea parties started peeling off unexpectedly. The only indestructible shoes from them are Bodyline. The year 2023 was a year of trying new things. I decided to invest in brand-new tea parties from Angelic Pretty. I had experience with previous red ones. I bought them second-hand, and even then, they lasted several years of intense wear. They would’ve lasted longer if the sole hadn’t worn out in Paris. So, I bought the new model, and I expect the same durability from them. For winter shoes, I decided to invest in new boots from Angelic Pretty. They are more for autumn, but they have room for warmer socks, so I wear them in winter too. I wanted to form an opinion after wearing them for a while. So far, I’m very satisfied. I walk in rain, and snow, they’re holding up well, not slippery, and I’ve walked several kilometres in them because they’re so comfortable. They’ve definitely convinced me that I want to buy another pair next season, some pink or white ones.

Of course, I continued collecting Otome no Sewing BOOKs and Gothic & Lolita Bibles. My small inspo library is growing nicely!

Uf… I honestly thought I’d never finish writing and photographing all of this… But I did it! Congratulations to everyone who made it this far, thank you for reading and have a nice start to a new year!
